Introduction

Developing an electrical system for a new bus platform required combining automotive expertise with the unique challenges of larger commercial vehicles. Our task was to design and deliver a complete system – from high-voltage harnesses to compliance documentation – within tight development timelines.

In this project, we developed preliminary wiring harness and hydraulic designs for an agricultural machine prototype. The customer required a solution that ensured reliable operation under machine movement and the motion of working components, while reducing design complexity.

Work scope

Our engineers were responsible for:

  • Designing high- and low-voltage harnesses
  • Routing battery and fuel cell connections
  • Developing metal and plastic components
  • Preparing safety and compliance documentation

Results

  • Harness design and routing completed using ZUKEN and Siemens NX
  • Safety assured through ASIL-compliant processes and structured FMEA
  • Modular and scalable design enabling reuse in future projects
  • Project delivered on schedule, with seamless integration of mechanical and electrical domains

Summary

By transferring proven methods from the automotive sector into the bus industry, VOITAS ensured a reliable, production-ready electrical system. The processes developed in this project are now reused across other platforms, confirming that cross-industry experience leads to more efficient engineering and lasting results.
